More bones...

Buddy asked for a few more pictures from the Paris catacombs. How could I resist a simple request from a tired new father :)

The first shot, is at the entrance to the catacombs, deep under Paris. Then, there is another dark, moody shot of some piles. And finally, some of the scrawled words in the world of the dead.

A translation of the poem on the last photo.
"Listen to arid bones, Listen to the voice of the Lord. Powerful God of our ancestors, of the breath which created the beings will rejoin your separate souls; You will take again new flesh; The skin will be formed on them: Dry bones you will live again "

There are many poems and biblical quotes throughout the catacombs referring to death and resurrection. It adds to the ambiance and proves that the French have a drole sense of humor. It is there. Deep beneath the haute exterior.

Thanks for the re-visit JC

Thanks for the translation, Matt. I had no idea what it said, I just liked to photo :) See, this is why I should take pictures for a book that someone else writes.

Thanks...John...next time I am in Paris I am making time for the dead...

I am not sure why this fascinates me so much...I guess because I think there are 6 million stories...down there...and no way to hear them
